appsworld 2012 shaped obstacle

So it's been about a month now since my last post, announcing work on the S Pen tutorial video and it's been a good experience so far. After shooting all the direct to camera, we recorded all the audio, leaving me able to go away and start chopping it out into scenes. I was quite happily sailing along, one eye on Motion, one on Final Cut when Apps World 2012 rushed us from a dark alleyway.

Same time every year - Diamond Sponsors 2012

Of course, a half day of technical presentations is one thing, but running a kick ass stand for two days is another... We learnt a lot organising 2011's event (there were... issues...) so we made sure these were passed back up the chain to avoid a repeat of 2011.

The actual event itself was good. I managed to wander off the stand a few times and meet up with some old faces. It didn't seem like there was such a buzz about the event this year round, but I suspect app development is not new to lots of large organisations any more.

Stand 97 - so close to the entrance, bar & Namco Arcade Cabinet!
This year we had two great stand attendee's working with us, collecting contact details and helping field technical/marketing enquiries. Both were aspiring actresses and one was very keen to do some work in a corporate environment (for her CV) so we might have found our next presenter! Just have to clear it with Legal/HR etc at work and we're away! Watch This Space...

Once the show was over and we'd headed back to the office, I got my head down again in Motion, importing some high-res .psd's of the Galaxy Note and S Pen, preserving the layers for maximum control. I used Place-holders in the first pass edit, and am now working my way back through the piece replacing place-holders for assets as I go. Will post a link as soon as it's ready for release.
